It appears I am in early labor and despite my midwive’s attempts to catastrophize my pregnancy and induce me (7 hospitalizations in all thus far) they have finally backed off and are letting Nature call the shots. Over these past 8 weeks of light duty and then bedrest, my blood pressure has stabilized, Baby Gibbs’ heart rate is textbook perfect on the monitor and 6 blood draws have failed to show any compromise to Baby.
John and I await the arrival of Baby in the next few days. We are choosing to spend the early stages here at home. The food is better (my run of the fridge and pantry v. Jello and broth) and we have a whirlpool tub and balance ball. Also there are all those reruns of Law and Order to watch.

Geeta just sent me this little app on a site called childbirth.org. Answer a few questions and it will determine whether you are having a boy or girl. The logic may seem a bit flawed, as one question ponders the sex of your baby via which direction you pillow sits on the bed, north or south. Geeta didn’t tell me her results, either.

Today is Geeta’s Due-day, not that Baby understands that or anything. We had some contractions over the weekend but those seem to subside by Sunday. Everyone is still in good spirits, so we are just waiting for the big arrival.

My brother is passing through Texas this weekend and is going to try to fly in to Houston today. He’s an excellent cook and has promised to whip something up for Geeta tonight that will “pop that baby right out of there!” So both my brother and a menu will be forthcoming…
Update: We ate well Saturday night, feasting on fettuccini and shrimp in a wonderful pesto sauce and sesame asparagus. However, Baby decided the time wasn’t right for a cameo! My brother, somewhat discouraged but well-rested, left today.
