Back at home…

Geeta was released from the hospital today, with baby still inside her. After 31 hours of inducing, the midwife and the attending OB reversed their earlier decree and are now vowing to leave the birth up to nature’s timetable.

We’re both tired and relieved. For several hours today, Geeta was hooked up to a baby monitor, a B.P. cuff on one arm and a I.V. on the other (her dominant hand no less), leaving her rather unwilling to move.

Now back at home, we’re both resting and recovering, and watching the World Series. Baby will come when it’s good and ready.

24 hours

Geeta and I entered the hospital 24 hours ago. Since then, she has received two doses of meds to induce the baby. She started contracting regularly at about 3:30pm yesterday and has since been contracting through the night, although most times without feeling anything.

As we enter Day 2, everyone’s spirits are high and we both got a fair night’s rest. She’ll probably recieve another dose of meds soon.
Actually, I think we are both somewhat relieved the baby wasn’t born yesterday, as yesterday’s date marked the 20th anniversary of Bill Buckner’s blunder in Game 6 of the ‘86 World Series, as well as the 152th anniversary of the Charge of the Light Brigade. A rather dubious date all around.

Back to the hospital

We’re headed back to the hospital tomorrow morning and hopefully returning with a baby. We’ll have wireless internet access at the hospital so I should be able to report minute by minute updates of Baby Gibbs. Stay tuned…

Geeta is having contractions!

We went back to the hospital once again this morning and were there for a few hours. Geeta has started having some contractions, but we’re back at home now. At this point, there’s nothing else to do but wait. We’re scheduled back to the hospital on Monday so her blood pressure can be monitored again. Check her for more details as they happen…

Close Calls

We’ve had some close calls over the last few days. For the third time, Geeta went to the hospital to have her blood pressure monitored (and for the third time, her pressure was fine once she got hooked up to all the machines). The midwives told us to pack this time for the real thing, but here we are at home again. We’ll go back to the hospital Saturday and again Monday if needed. The general prognosis is that baby is coming soon - if not this week, then next. Stay tuned!

Poll: When will Geeta deliver?

Polls are now active on the site and you can vote on the current poll in the sidebar to the left. This month’s poll is: When will Geeta deliver? Let’s see what you think!

P.S. Unlike our earlier poll, this one only let’s you vote once!

Site Refresh

As Geeta’s due date gets closer, I am slowly finalizing the site. This slight refresh was meant to add readibility to the blog posts and focus a little less on the sidebar features.

We still don’t know if we’re having a baby boy or a baby girl, so the site colors may change dramatically around November 6th! In any event, we’ll have pictures here, as well as our Shutterfly account.

Stay tuned!

Baby Name Wizard

Just in time for baby, the Baby Name Wizard is a very neat little mashup application. It provides a reference to popular baby names over the last 110 years in a graph. You can also search for any name, too.

Now in Pink!

In the last iteration of Smallest Pixel, there was a poll. Seems quite a few more folks think Geeta is having a girl. With that in mind, the new site is in pink. Should a boy arrive, Dad will be doing some extra web work to republish the site in a nice and tasteful blue. Enjoy!

3-2-1. Launch

Ah yes. Smallest Pixel finally launches. After much delay the bulk of the site has finally launched, featuring:

  • Live picture stream from Flickr (so far filled only with pics of Mom and Dad)
  • Link to the baby registry
  • Baby Life blog

Soon to come? Maybe some more polls and certainly news about baby-to-be-named later!
